Soft and thick CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE recipe

soft and thick chocolate chip cookie recipe

If you love a thick and soft bakery style chocolate chip cookie, this recipe is for you! With plenty of chocolate and the combination of brown and granulated sugar, these cookies will be the star of the show!

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour (Scoop and leveled)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter – room temperature
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt

Directions:

  1. If you’ll be baking these cookies right away, preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Add 1 cup unsalted butter, 1 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup granulated sugar to a stand mixer bowl or large mixing bowl.
  3. Beat the sugars and butter together until fully combined and fluffy – about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Add 2 large eggs, 1 tbsp vanilla and 2 tsp salt to the bowl and beat together on low until just combined.
  5. Add 2 3/4 cups of flour and 1/2 tsp baking soda and beat together on low until fully combined.
  6. Add 2 cups of chocolate chips to the bowl and mix until combined.
  7. Using a 2 tbsp cookie scoop, scoop dough onto parchment paper line cookie sheet.
  8. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 2 hours up to 24 hours. (I recommend to chill the dough in the refrigerator, but you do not have to do this if you don’t have time.)
  9. Bake for 12 – 13 minutes until the outside of the cookie is set and turning golden brown. They will look a little undone in the middle, but this is ok!
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the cookie sheet for at least 5 minutes, then use a spatula to transfer them to a cooling rack or plate.
  11. Top with flaky sea salt.
  12. Enjoy!
