Easy Easter Decorated Sugar Cookies

Easter brunch is one of my favorite meals of the year! The weather starts to warm up, delicious fruit is in season, and the family is all gathered together for a yummy meal. On the menu this year is a homemade tater tot casserole, my mother in law's cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, and cookies for dessert! One could argue that we'll have enough sweets to go around with the Easter basket candy, but I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to make Easter cookies for the celebration.

If you're anything like me, you love the professionally decorated sugar cookies that have become so popular lately, but you do not have the decorating skills needed to make those cute designs. Well, look no further, I've got an easy Easter cookie decorating idea that is also quite delicious. Added bonus, these are so easy to make that your kids can help too. These would be perfect for an Easter brunch dessert buffet or dessert table!

Easy Easter Decorated Sugar Cookies

The first step is to bake your cookies using your favorite recipe. I love this no chill recipe because it's super simple and delicious. The cookies can be cut into any shape you would like. My son and I decided to make an egg shape this year, but you could do bunnies, chicks, flowers, etc. Once the cookies are baked and cooled, it's time to start the fun!

Ingredients

  • Baked and cooled sugar cookies
  • Pastel colored chocolate melts (I bought mine from Michaels)
  • Cookie sheet lined with wax paper

Directions

  1. Add 1 1/2 cups of chocolate melts to a microwave safe bowl.
  2. Melt chocolate in 30 second increments, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.
  3. Once chocolate is melted, use a spoon to scoop the chocolate onto the cookie.
  4. Spread the chocolate around the cookie to create the egg shape.
  5. While chocolate is still melty, add sprinkles of your choice.
  6. Place in refrigerator for 10 minutes to allow chocolate to set.
  7. Enjoy!
